Registered Cooperative (eG)
Working Together
COCO is more than just a workplace. We are a cooperative that reinvests profits back into the Bergmannkiez neighborhood.

Why a Cooperative?
We are not here to enrich investors. Every euro that COCO earns stays in the Bergmannkiez neighborhood and is invested in better jobs, more events, and local projects. That's real economics for the neighborhood. COCO – Coworking & Community was created in 2023 as a joint initiative of the merchants of the Marheineke Market Hall. Our goal is to strengthen the market hall as a location and develop it further together with the merchants. With COCO, we are creating a place to work and exchange ideas that supports the local community and brings new impetus to the market hall.
- Money stays in the neighborhood
- Decisions made together, not by investors
- Local projects instead of profits
At COCO Coworking Space, you become part of a cooperative that supports the merchants and the future of the Marheineke Market Hall. Together, we founded this coworking space to support and further develop the market hall and preserve it as a vibrant place for work, encounters, and neighborhood culture.

Voices from theCooperative
What our members say
The cooperative means that my money stays where it belongs—in our neighborhood.
I don't just work here, I'm part of something that's really changing the neighborhood.
Having a say, not just being a customer—that's the difference I needed.
2023-2024
Together with the market hall traders, we developed the idea of a coworking space in a series of workshops. We discussed our visions, exchanged ideas, and developed a concept that takes the needs of the local community into account. In March 2024, we were finally able to sign the lease agreement with the Berlin Wholesale Market (BGM), which now allows us to use the upper gallery.
May 2024
A decisive step on our journey was the takeover of the existing cooperative Cuckoo eG in May 2024. This takeover enabled us to significantly accelerate the founding process and build on existing structures and experience. By integrating with Cuckoo eG, we were able to take over a strong network of members and partners who supported our project from the very beginning. We would like to express our special thanks to Lasse Kroll for his friendly manner and support throughout the entire process!
June - August 2024
The realization of our coworking space would not have been possible without the support of architects, contractors, and designers from the neighborhood. Their commitment and expertise have helped make COCO a place that is both functional and inspiring.
October 2024
In October 2024, we will finally open the doors of COCO – Coworking & Community. Now it's up to you to bring this place to life with your ideas and projects. We are very excited!
